Happy new year 2020 for increasing your learning

English, Español, Français, 日本語

Happy New Year 2020 from Kenya (East Africa)!!

Please receive my warmest greeting and attached new year card I drew, hoping that your 2020 will be the year of “Increase” as shown in Japanese calligraphy “増 (Zou)”. Rat is the first of 12-year Zodiac cycle animals, and the symbol of increase. It is my hope that we can maintain beginner’s mindset and build on what we have learned through 2017“Fly High飛翔”, 2018 “Effort 努力” and 2019 “Accumulation蓄”.

Please take care of mental and physical wellbeing, and I hope to see you in the near future,

PS. You might find something in the drawing.

Review 2019 to thrive in 2020

English, Español, Français, 日本語

Already year end? Time flies!

I am sure you have heard and/or said these recently. But the truth is, time does not fly. In fact, in this unequal society, time is one of the few things equally distributed to everyone, and is indeed limited. So we need to keep reminding ourselves of it.

For example, whether or not you use your 2 hours for watching netflix, learning language, exercising, attending meaningless meeting, socializing), it is the same 2 hours (outcome will differ though).

In that sense, year end is the great period to identify or revisit the fields you really care, review what you did to know where you are and what needs to be done. Let me cover these in this entry with my own examples, so that you can see if it’s relevant or adjust to yours.

Kenya 1 ー 7 learnings from another life turning point in Africa

English, Español, Français, 日本語

Life is full of new encounter and departure, be it with people, items, jobs or places to live.

The reason I said good-bye to Mauritania (Nouakchott) was to say Hello to the new destination, Kenya (Nairobi). This is quite a big move, mentally (change of my work) and physically (west to east of this big African continent).

Since then, more than a month has passed and I already learned some important life lessons, which I would like to share hoping they can be informative and applicable to other situation.

Organizer (7) ー Organize your physical space, learning and life

English, Español, Français, 日本語

This is sort of the summary of the series of physical space oraganization (the series will continue for other organization), which looks mainly at one of the most valuable space, home.

After hard work and study, it feels good to return home, doesn’t it? Having home is human needs and instinct as houses were built even during the stone age around 10,000 B.C. Having a place to live is privilege, and how it’s organized affect your life in many ways.

With that in mind, I will try my best to summarize physical space organization (it can be applied not only to home but also to other spaces) including the past recommendations/posts, in the hope of contributing to better organized house, office and life, as well as some bonus tips related to learning.

Organizer (6) ー Increasing productivity, health and creativity through desk organization

English, Español, Français, 日本語

More and more research point it out that in our modern society, we sit long time because of computer and desk work (office worker, students, artists, etc.). That means how you deal with desk environemnt affect your work, day and life.

For the last decades, we’ve faced the problem of sleep deprivation (phone/computer screen light is the enemy of quality sleep), the critical issue which affects our productivity and health as we are supposed to sleep one third of our day/life and take care of sleeping environment. In addition, we are having another life-long problem: we sit longer than ever, particularly in front of desk (even more than the hours you spend for sleeping) which also affect our productivity and health. Thus, we also need to take care of the desk environment (on and around the desk).

With that in mind, in this post, I will mainly talk about how organizing desk environment affect productivity and health, through the following points: why do should care about desk environment; what are the common problems and; how to organize desk and habit making.

More Habits than Goal to achieve New Year Resolution

English, Español, Français, 日本語

You have done your best in 2018. You want to change and/or improve something in 2019. So it’s pretty normal to go ahead with new year resolution.

Losing weight, learning language, passing the exam, getting/changing job, You name it.

However, let me remind this unfortunate fact (I am taping the wood now)…out of 100 people who make resolution, 92 of them abandon their resolution. That leaves only 8% of successful people. If it’s true, something must be wrong with resolution making. So through the main point of this pointーmore habits than goalーI hope to contribute to improve this statistic in a long run.

Happy New Year 2019ーAccumulation

Happy New Year 2019 from Mauritania (West Africa) !!

Please receive my warmest greeting and new year card I drew, hoping that our 2019 will be the year of “accumulation” as said in Japanese calligraphy “蓄  (Chiku)”.

Pig is the last of 12-year cycle of Zodiac animals and the symbol of preparation and patience for new big start, as well as of going straight.

It is my hope that we keep accumulating what we learned through “Fly High” Cock year 2017 and “Make Effort” Dog year 2018, to progress even further.

Please take care of your mental and physical well-being, and I hope to see you somewhere in the near future,

P.S. Probably you might see something from pig drawing.
