How long does it take to lean something?
Several theories say that you need at least 10,000 hours to be an expert on that area, languages, playing instruments, cooking, whatever that is (if you learn for 1 hour/day, it takes more than 27 years…).
But for those who you don’t need to be an expert or can’t spend so much time, but still want to learn new skills, Josh Kaufman suggests that we need just 20 hours to learn.
In less than 20 minutes of his TED presentation, he explains this well, not only by telling his theory but also by doing it: showing what he learned (playing OOO).
Here is how to learn things in 20 hours:
1. Deconstruct the skill
2. Lean enough to self control
3. Remove practice barriers
4. Practice at least 20 hours

“Gangnam style” during his play was funny.
Tonight I will be flying to Osaka and I will spend more than 20 hours on an airplane (total 56 hours to get Osaka from Santiago).
Let’s see what I can do.
