Achieving a Ten-Year-long Dream and Language Learning at Lençóis in Brazil

🇬🇧English 🇯🇵日本語 🇪🇸Español 🇫🇷Français 🇧🇷Português

-One day, I will definitely go to this place-

More than 10 years ago, I saw a picture of Lençóis in Brazil, and I promised myself to see it in my eyes one day. It has been “one day” for long time as it was not easy to make it happen due to its limited season (June-Aug) and access (far from all the places I was based in).

This year, I had a chance to visit Chile in June, and despite remaining COVID-19 restriction, I decided to travel there. It was also for brushing up my language skill before landing at a new duty station (Mozambique, Portuguese speaking country just like Brazil). In this post, I would like to share my experience from traveler and language learner’s point of view.

Things to do in MoroccoーBullet TravelーVisit 5 main cities in 4.5 days

English, Español, Français, 日本語

When I was a backpacker (10-15 years ago), I didn’t want to visit the same country I already went, as i wanted to know other contexts as much as possible. However, the more I travelled, the more I realized that it is quite difficult to generalize a country as each city, and sometimes each village has something different.

That’s why I decided to travel Morocco (where I went once) and managed to visit 5 major cities although I just had 4.5 days of vacation.

5 Factors to Choose Airline

English, Español, Français, 日本語

As I travelled whenever I had time since I was 17 years old, I used so many different airlines. In the beginning, the most important thing for me was the ticket price, which was every thing.

However, little by little I came to understand that it was not all. What’s important for me now is the service. With that in mind, XXX is the best airline for the reasons I will describe below.

Mongolia 2ーArrival

English, Español, Français, 日本語

Update: This post is the last and 5th part of Mongolian series. Please check part 1, part 3, part 4, and part 5

After deciding to leave Chile, it’s time to go to Mongolia!

First of all, I was going to go directly from Chile to Mongolia, but given that the destination is the other side of the planet, I made a decision to go to Japan first to prepare my self. Even Chingis Khaan managed to expand his empire with a lot of preparation (I think).

Before leaving Chile, I tried to meet as many close people as possible to eat out. At that time, I didn’t know that Chilean ingredients such as avocado (“Palta” in Chile), seafood and wine were that valuable, as I took them for granted. Especially since I was born and raised in Japan, I was used to seafood (for the next 3 years I really appreciated every opportunity to have sea food as Mongolia is landlocked country).

After all, we can appreciate the value of something when we lose it, be it health, salmon or Palta.

So I will briefly write about the path to arrive Mongolia.

5 Reasons to Host in Couchsurfing

2016_08_7 Couch Surfing

Long time ago, I wrote about CouchSurfing (hereafter CS) through an article “save money when traveling”. The CS consists of 2 parts: hosts who are open to having a guest, and guests who request to at host’s place, and it’s free. There is a reference section from both side, which keeps accountability (if you do something bad, you will be out from CS)

In the above mentioned entry, I mainly talked about being a guest of CS. This time, I would like to talk about the other side of this system: host side.
