Two kinds of “Why”

Why?

First of all, please spare for about 6 min to watch this video.

【A New Global Power: Girls with Books】

This video is about another girl, besides Malala, who got shot in Pakistan by terrorist just for going to a school as a girl. it was just moving and I just wanted to share one of the panoramas of what´s going on in this world.

According to UNESCO, 31 million girls of primary school age are out of school. Of these 17 million are expected never to enter school. There are also 34 million female adolescents out of school,

Why?

The other day, I had a chance to watch this year’s Oscar-winning movie.

This movie, “12 years a slave” in which a rich black musician who was kidnapped turned into be a slave, shows four kinds of people:
rich non-slave black people, black slave people, white slave owner and white people who question about the slavery.

My impressive 2 lines in this film are as follows:

“if you want to survive, don’t let them know that you can reed and write”
“I don’t want to survive. I want to live”

【Trailer: 12 years a slave】

Among these 2 videos, I found 3 common thing:

  • Limit to to education
  • Good and bad part of us human beings are other sides of the same coin
  • They both provoke 2 kinds of “why?”: “Why have this kind of things been happening throughout the history?” and “Why can we not prevent these from happening?”

Education keeps us from being ignorant.
So once we become “educated” by knowing the fact and history, the next step would be not to let these happen again.

Once we Think why, we can Do something.

So first, let’s think WHY.
